BSP Joins the World Environment Day Celebration

In celebration of the World Environment Day, the Boy Scouts of the Philippines organized a nationwide tree-planting activity from 5-6 June 2009, which was participated by 111 Local Scout councils.

On 05 June 2009, the National Office Staff joined the Rizal Council, BSP in tree-planting activity, which gathered around 100 Scouts and Leaders, including representatives from the local community.  Together, they planted 350 "mahogany" trees and "narra" trees in Antipolo, Rizal.

BSP Supports the DOH Against Influenza A (H1N1) Virus

BSP Officials and representatives attended an orientation about the novel virus Influenza A(H1N1) last May 25, 2009 from 9am to 12nn at the Secretary Francisco Q. Duque Jr. Health Information Center, Department of Health, San Lazaro Compound, Sta.Cruz, Manila.


Attendees to the orientation were from different GO’s and NGO’s, Faith-based Organizations, Food Companies, Bookstores, NLEX, Insurance Companies and other representatives from the Business Sector. The Program started with an invocation and followed by welcome remarks by the Department of Health Secretary himself Hon. Francisco T. Duque III. The orientation proper and basic facts on Influenza A(H1N1) were delivered by Dr. Lyndon Lee Suy, Program Manager, IDO-NCDPC. After the orientation, Dr. Asuncion M. Anden facilitated the open forum where several questions were raised by different representatives.

Boy Scouts of the Philippines makes two historical conclusions

The Annual Council Meeting of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) held on 19th to 21st May 2009 in Zamboanga city, in the southern part of the country, ended with two historical resolutions.

The annual meeting, attended by over 400 Scout Leaders and officials from BSP councils all over the country, unanimously resolved to start working seriously on community-based Scouting and to establish at least one Scout troop in each of 111 Scout councils before the year ends. These two decisions were made after a strong recommendation by the National Executive Board.
